Jolaine .. altering with crackle paint

Here's one of my LOs with the beautiful LE kit:

Now I will show you how I created the crackled, sparkly background:

1. Brush on a bit of crackle paint in the picket fence color in random places.

2.Once the paint is dry, rub Diamond FX over the surface for added detail!

Misting on your page by Rachael...How did I do that

I wanted to share with you how I created the misted background on my page All Grown Up...

First I used a dinner plate to create a mask using a sheet of cardstock, once I had cut it out I stuck it onto my background paper using repositional herma.

I carefully misted the page blotting off any excess using kitchen towel.

Once that had thoroughly dried I used the dinner plate to draw a guide line for some hand stitching...

and then built my page up.

I used the same technique for the photo on the layout. I created a mask using cardstock to cover the centre of the photo, this time I didn't stick it down but held it firmly in place while I misted over the photo. Once that had thoroughly dried I added some machine stitching around the edges.

How did I do that..Romy Altered Gift Box

I thought I'd share with you how I made this gift box with the LE kit:

I started off with this box:

I first took the pink bloomers and stitched a few of them together:

I adhered the bloomers and two of the Prima flowers to the box top:

I then added the butterfly, a fussy cut star and a pink flower to it as well. To make sure things won't fall off the box for a while, I used my tacky glue to adhere the embellishments.
(I'll show you in the post below how I made the pink flower.)

I also added pink bling to the sides of the box top. I simply cut a few strings from the Webster's bling that is included in the kit.

After the box top was all finished, I started decorating the box itself. It had originally written a brand on it, so I decided to cover that up. I added a small strip of paper on top of it:

And finished it off with a few more strips of paper, a bow, a jewel and liquid pearls, as you can see on the photo below:

As a finishing touch I accentuated a few details with glitter glue and liquid pearls. This is the final result:

How did I do that... Carla altering chipboard

What I have done here with the fancy chipboard from the Main kit, it is fun and easy to do. I will show you how:

You will need:
1 Clear Embossing Ink
2. Ink, paint, or gesso
3 Embossing Powder(s)
4 Heat Gun

1.. Ink the chipboard
2..Take a clear stamp (well mine used to be clear ) Press it into the chipboard
3.. Do on the clear embossing ink and randomly stamp on your chipboard
4 and 5 .. Coat your chipboard with embossing powder (be sure to put a piece of paper under it, so that you can transfer your powder back into the bottle easily)
Heat it up with the heat gun.
5..Paint the entire piece of chipboard with the Perlen Pen.. blue .. leaving as many chunks behind as possible..., and so do with the heatgun warm it up.. that it go bubble and puff for that really grungy look

Scrapbook Challenge for Jan. 2012 - Create your own embellishments Win the Dusty Attic ,Prima prize pkg!!!

I have to admit that I am a total paper hoarder!! I love all of the colors, patterns, textures, and just everything about all of the gorgeous papers we have to choose from to create!
I also enjoy looking at the papers and their patterns and trying to come up with unique ways of using those pretty patterns. One of my favorite things to do with paper is to use
punches, layer them all up with various combination's of stickers, buttons, twine, bling, etc., and create my own embellishments for my layouts and cards!!

So, that's January's Challenge for you, use up those patterned papers (that we all know you're hoarding) and mix them, layer them, cut them, punch them, and create your
very own embellishments!!

Here are a few examples of where I have created my own embellishments to enhance my layouts and cards...

1. Here I layered pieces of punched pattern paper to create snowflake circle embellishments for my snow themed layout.

2. On this layout, I created layered embellishments to draw attention to a subtitle and also to enhance my New Year's theme.

3. Here I layered punched out pattern paper along with stickers and hand cut strips of paper to create the sun and sun rays on my card.

I hope you have a ton of fun creating your very own embellishments, and I can't wait to see what everyone will come up with!!

How did I do that...Romy Altering flowers from the kit

Both on my 'Delicate' layout and on my gift box, I used these little flowers. They're made from the pink and white roses that are included in the kit. I'll show you how I made the white flower; the pink flower was made in a similar way.

I started off with this flower:

I gently folded the outer leaves:

And then took out the rose in the middle:

I cut one of the elegant jewels from the Webster's bling, so I could use it as a center for my flower.

Here's an example of how you can use these flowers on a layout. On this layout I added a bit of Stickles to the petals as well:

How did I do that .. Zoe layering technique

I would like to share my layering technique I used here on Snowy Day

This is a favorite of mine, and I probably do this technique too often, but I love the results!!

You will need a middle section and two coordinating colors of patterned paper cut 1inch each, then an additional 3 strips of cardstock for each side, so you should end up with 1 center piece, no wider than 7 inches, 4 1 inch strips of patterned paper, and 6 strips of cardstock

Next punch out the strips, using one of your favorite border punches!!

Ink all of your edges and distress the edges of the patterned papers

How did I do that --Tomoko flowers tutorial

Flowers
I made these flowers for the Jan. Limited Edition kit:
Use a cut out from the pattern paper as your template of the flower. Copy the flower in 3 different sizes (large, middle, small sized)

Cut out 2 large sized flowers, 1 middle sized flower, and 2 small flowers.

Ink them on the edges.

Curl the petals (except for 1 small flower).

Glue them together.

Curl the small flower's petals the opposite way and this comes in the middle.

Add some liquid peals if you like.

Leaves
Use a mask for a template for the leaves.

Trace the lines with a pencil onto green patterned paper.

Cut them out, fold them in the middle, and ink the edges.

A Paint Tech from Rachael....

You don't have to use stamps to add paint or ink to your pages why not use tools that you have in your craft room, one of my favourite things to use is the rubber end of a pencil....
All you need is
Paint
Paint brush
Paint tray
Rubber ended pencil

Put a small blob of paint onto the tray and spread it out using the paint brush.

Dab the rubber into the paint, you can check the coverage before you add it to your page if you want to make sure you will get a circle.

Stamp the rubber onto your page.

It isn't a very obvious addition to the page but I love all the little details that make up a page.

My name is Zoe Nemburt and I live in the beautiful province of Nova Scotia, with my husband of almost 10 years and our 3 children Yasmin 8, Aydin 6, and Ceyda 4, I work for Canada Post as a letter carrier but only Part time of course, A girls gotta scrap too right!!
I was born in southern England and we all moved here to Canada in 2006 and have never looked back, this is our new home and we are proud to call Canada our home! Hello I’m Emma, a full-time mother and wife juggling all that life throws at me with my passion for crafting. . I live in the beautiful countryside of the UK with my husband and my two teenage boys-who have embraced my hobby, ignored the mess I make when creating and enjoyed the journey with me!

I am primarily a scrapbooker and usually work in A4 format.I am currently a Webster's Pages Design Team member :D My style...well it's instantly recognisable to everybody else but me! I love to layer and embellish my pages and use doodling and paint too. Last year I enjoyed making 'off the page projects' too. From Hot Air Balloons to Rubik's Cubes, you name it I was trying to make it out of paper. One of the greatest things about my hobby...the great people I have met and the wonderful places I have visited.

Fold paper in half.

Cut paper but don't go all the way.

Roll the strips up randomly.

Detailing Alphabets

Use sand paper to sand the letters.

Add distress ink on top.

Here is how I made the sugared rose on the bottom left corner of my layout:

1. Gather the following supplies: patterned paper, a large and a medium flower punch, sprayable water or mist, a makeup sponge or mouse pad, a marker or pen with a rounded tip, a thin paintbrush or skewer, liquid adhesive, glossy accents, and diamond dust.
2. Punch 2 large and 3 medium flowers.
3. Lightly dampen the punched flowers with water or other mist.
4. Place a large punched flower onto the makeup sponge or mouse pad and using the rounded tip of a marker, press the center of the dampened flower down firmly onto the sponge. This action shapes the flower center into a rounded shape so that there will be room for the flower bud to sit. Repeat this with the other large punched flower.

5. While still damp, curl the petals of one of the large punched flowers down tightly around the thin paintbrush handle or skewer.
6. While still damp, curl the petals of the other large punched flower up tightly around the paintbrush handle.
7. While still damp, shape each of the small punched flowers around the rounded tip of the marker.
8. Shape the second small punched flower tighter than the first and the third tighter than the second. Let all 5 pieces dry completely before moving on.

9. Use a generous amount of liquid adhesive to adhere the upward-rolled flower on top of the downward-rolled flower. Then place these onto the makeup sponge or mouse pad and using the rounded tip of a marker, press the center of the flower down firmly onto the sponge. This will reinforce that rounded shape so that the bud will fit nicely into it. Allow to dry.
10. Use a generous amount of liquid adhesive to adhere the three small flower pieces inside one another to form the flower bud.
11. Adhere flower bud to center of flower and allow to dry. I have found that the more liquid adhesive used, the better, as when it stiffens it will strengthen the shape of the flower. Next place small amounts of glossy accents on the petals as desired.
12. Immediately press the glossy-accented-part of the flower into the diamond dust.

Announcing an additon to our Sketch design team Shell Carman

Hi There! I'm Shell Carman, Mum to 3 kids: Hunter 6, Kayla, 3 & Evie 1.
I married my high school sweetheart Craig in Fiji 7 years ago.

I am completely addicted to Scrapping! I love doing it, I love talking about it & I love shopping for it LOL! My style is an eclectic Shabby Chic mix. Sometimes I like it to be clean & straight lines & sometimes really distressed. All my pages have lot's of layers & embellies. My favorite part of scrapping is using lot's of pretties on my page especially flowers.

I started scrapping to preserve our memories. I still like to do this but I think now I scrap more for the creative outlet & the chance to chat & make new friends! Scrapping has given me a chance to 'meet' people from all around the world.

I am a huge fan of sketches! I find sketches so helpful to get me started. I am so excited to be part of the My Creative Scrapbook sketch team!

How did I do that ... Altering kit items by Rachael

I love the transparencies that Glitz produce and I wanted this frame to really stand out on my page.

Draw around the transparency onto a piece of kraft paper and cut it out.

Add ink to all the edges and any areas that will clearly show through the transparency.

Stick the transparency back on top of the kraft only adding adhesive to areas that won't show.

What a difference an edge can make....

This is how my basic page started, for me the layers just don't stand out enough but there are some easy ways to add definition.

I ink all the edges of pretty much everything that I add to my pages using either distress ink or chalk ink.

Distressing the edges, I use a Tim Holtz distressing tool but you can just as easily use the edge of your scissors or an emery board/nail file.The great thing about distressing is you can do as little or as much as your like, even going as far as screwing up the paper and ripping it.

I love to use my sewing machine on my layouts, if you don't have a machine you can always add hand stitching or draw on fake stitching.

If you compare photo 1 with photo 4 I think you will agree defining each layer by edging the paper makes a huge differenc

How did I do that... Altering flowers in the kit by Melissa

Here's a quick tutorial on how I colored the flowers on my Family it's about Time page

Supplies Used:

Glimmer Mist (Patina & Olive Vine)
Paintbrush
Prima Flower

First I sprayed a little of each color of Glimmer Mist into the paint tray and added a few sprays of water to each color to help water is down a little

Then I very carefully pulled the bottom layer of the flower off and lightly painted the edge with the Patina Glimmer Mist. I left the top two layers of the flower together and painted the edges of them with the Patina Glimmer Mist too.

Next I painted the middle of the bottom layer and the very top layer with Olive Vine Glimmer Mist. I didn't paint the middle layer with the Olive Vine.

Last I just dried the flower with my heat gun and hot glued it back together

How did I do that ..embellishing and distressing by Romy

I simply loved the chipboard chandelier in this kit and wanted it to be a real eye-catcher on my layout.

I first outlined some of the brown lines on the chandelier with a black fineliner. Just doodle some circles wherever you wish for a nice personal touch!

After that I took my perlen pens (Liquid Pearls will work perfectly too; I think the main difference between the Viva pens and Liquid Pearls is that the Viva pearls are more similar to real pearls, while Liquid Pearls can be used to make very small, but a little less real looking dots) for some finishing touches and adhered a brown bow to the top of the chandelier.

On my layout 'NYC' I did some rough distressing on the background paper. I think distressing always adds such a wonderful extra touch to your page. It can give every paper collection a vintage twist and it can add a whole lot of dimension too. On a few places of the paper I distressed the edges a bit heavier. The final result looked like this:

I first inked the edges using distress ink 'Walnut Stain', which is a wonderful dark brown tone. Then I started distressing with my Heidi Swapp tool and I made sure I distressed a bit rougher on a few places:

Behind those places I adhered a small piece of kraft cardstock. Because of the rough distressing, part of the kraft cardstock will be peeking out at the front side.

Of course you could also use an entire sheet of kraft cardstock as a base for your layout, but since only a few small parts of the kraft cardstock are peeking out, I prefered using small pieces instead of an entire sheet.

And in the end I used my distress ink once again. In this way the edges of the kraft cardstock will have a nice brown edge now too. I applied the ink using a small sponge:

My final result, with a few roughly distressed edges, looked like this:

How did I do that ...Dusty Attic Dress form by Angel

Here is How I did the Dress Form...

I made Blocks of 3 1/2 x3 1/2, 2 1/2,x2 1/2, and 1x1 inches..
I folded corner to corner and added hot glue to hold it in place. I then Layered it on my dress form startin with the 3 1/2 Inich and next layer 2 1/2 inch then Last layer .I used Glue gun to do this. (But you can use any fast Drying Glue) Then I glossy accented the remaining Piece and sprinkled Glitter . Once that Dried I attached a piece of Lace to the bodice, and made her a waist with Roses..

I simply painted it white and added some Stickles...

A little hint....If you turn it over, it has a distressed look with just a little white paint peaking. I cut the Frame into pieces and used it on 2 LOs with this kit.

How I made my swirls

Point: After writing your swirl with a pencil, you outline with a marker (this will make it easier to paint inside and you won't need to worry about getting out of the line).

Step 1
Write some swirls with a pencil (if this is hard for you you can see something as a sample)

Step 2
Trace it with a marker (I used ZIG to trace the line)

Step 3
Mist over it

Step 3
Add some distress ink on some parts

Step 4
Paint inside of the lines with acrylic paint (acrylic paint will make the swirls more clearly with out just using marker)

Step 5
Add glitter to the outside line of the swirls

Step 6
Add ome liquid pearl to some parts and apply crackle to the swirls

That's it!!

Flower tutorial by Angel..Sunflower great for your fall layouts!

Hello everyone .. Time for me to give you another tutorial. You never can get enough Flower How too's and with that said I have a Sunflower to share with you...With fall here It just made me in the mood.If you do not have these punches you can used what you have at home maybe a daisy punch or your cricut.

Here is what you will need...

Yellow,brown and green cardstock (shade of your choice)
Tim Holtz distress ink-Vintage Photo
Blending Tool
Fabic Tack(or any fast drying Glue)
Moulding mat or mouse pad
Large stylus 8mm with ball
Punches- Star Lily, Large Highland Snowflake,Sun,Birch Leaf

Now you are to punch out the following....
Star Lilly -12 of each petal (yellow)
Highland snow flake -One (yellow)
Sun- 3 in brown
Birch leaf-4 in green
Ink all your petals in vintage Photo...

Then using the Stylus and mat, You will press down on the punch piece using the stylus in a circular motion to loosen the paper.

Do this to all the pieces...

Now using the highlander snowflake as the base,you will then glue the large petals all around then layer the second to largest over that offsetting between the petals...

Continue with the rest of the petals and then add the sun by layering them in each other and glueing in the center.. now add the leaves to your liking..

You can add what you want to them Here I added some Glimmer mist in Clear just to get that sparkle. You can always turn this into a pointsetta if you wish..

I hope you enjoyed this.. Lots of fun...

How did I do that ..Fall Wreath by Zoe

Making a Fall Wreath

Gather up your scraps from your kit...believe me there is plenty I created 4 layouts 2 cards a canvas AND a wreath!!! and I still had a little left over. Great value for money
You will also need a score board I use a martha stewart one
Strong glue like Fabri-tac or a Hot glue gun
Buttons left over from your kit
some cardstock
circle punch or you can hand cut them
and a little bit of patience!!

For the big flowers I cut 2 12 inch strips I needed about an extra 3 inches to make the full flower but mostly I used 1 inch strips anything 8 inches and longer will work.

Score the strip every 1/4"

Fold back and forth all the way to end, then add some glue to hold it all in place.

This picture gives a good idea, I glued an overlap so that it will have a stronger hold over time.

Now here's the fun part, I hadn't actually ever made these before I made this wreath... so lots of trial and error. I found as I would flatten them down they would just pop right back up again... so I decided to cut some reinforcement! I punched out some circle and glued one to the back AND to the front of each flower.

if you have a few bottles of "anything" sitting around just place them on top while waiting for the glue to dry!!

next I punched out some circles from the patterned paper and used some natural twine to thread the buttons with.

Once everything is dry you can layer the 1inch flowers on top of the 2inch flowers and then add the patterned paper circles and buttons.

Adhering to the wreath would be easier with a hot glue gun... however if your like me and would burn yourself if you owned one fabri-tac or a similar strong glue will have to do instead! lol I found adding the glue to the backs of the flowers placing them where I wanted on the wreath and then setting the wreath backside up worked best, as otherwise your liquid glue would just slide through the holes! so place them where you want them then lay face down on the table and let dry. it was really sturdy when I picked it up an hour later!!

Last just add a sentiment and a few last flowers and you are done!! I actually had an extra left over so I made an extra card!!

How did I do that...Misting thru die cut by Hilde

take your sheet of paper and the chickenwire together with glimmermist:

spray the glimmermist on top of the chickenwire:

then you have your great misting!

Another thing I did with the chickenwire is using white paint on a tissue and simply stamp on your chickenwire.
It doesn't give this detailed look, but it still looks fun!

Making an Awesome Stamp with Tomoko....

I used a clear stamp from Bo Bunny to make this, but if you don't have something like it, you can make your own stamp out of bubble sheets.

**Supplies**
Bubble sheet, stamp ink, liquid pearl (paint is okay if you don't have any)

Cut the bubble sheet into your desired size.

Press in onto paper.

Add liquid pearls or paint in the center of the dots.

Make You Own Brick Mask....from Kerry Murray

I just wanted to share this gorgeous technique from Kerry with you today...Hope you enjoy!

First get yourself a sturdy piece of cardboard,then draw some bricks some small some large they do not have to be perfect.
As shown below.

Then i used a craft knife and cut them out,once again they do not have to be perfect.Once you have cut them out that becomes your mask.

Then i cut one of the flowers from the paper and used this as a mask as well.I have reversed the flower and I put the flower down on the paper and glimmer misted it lightly.
From there i lifted the flower off,then i used this flower the right way and put it on the opposite side of my layout,you can see it in the layout photo.
then i laid the brick mask onto the paper and used ranger inks and masked it with antique linen.

And this is what it ended up like.

I love to use masks and mists on my layouts, but I don't always want them to be the center of the layout or to overwhelm the photos.
Here's how I use embellishments as a mask to create subtle details on my layouts.

1. I used the MDF chicken wire embellishment as a mask on my background just by simply lying the chicken wire embellishment
onto the page then using a mist to spritz over top of the chicken wire.

2. I also did the same thing at the bottom of my page. I used a mist that was similar in color to the background paper in order to keep
the detail subtle so that it didn't take the focus away from my photos.

Here's my final layout. The great thing about using an embellishment as a mask, is that you can still use the embellishment on another
project once your finished!

How did I do that...Altering Die cuts by Romy

I loved the die-cuts in the main kit this month, especially since you can turn them into chipboard pieces very easily too! I'll show you in a short tutorial how I turned this tea can into a dimensional chipboard embellishment.

I used the box my kit came in as the chipboard layer behind the tea can. I simply attached the die-cut to the cardboard using tacky tape and then started cutting it out.

Then the tea can looked like this:

After that I sanded the edges to make sure the cardboard wouldn't peek out behind the die-cut.

And in the end I inked the edges using Colorbox 'Chestnut' ink.

This is how the tea can looked on my layout '100% Pure Honey'. As you can see I also decorated it with some liquid pearls for a perfect finishing touch.

This a simple, yet effective tech for your pages and projects...Below are step by step pics that are easy to follow.

Below are the supplies you will need... Dry Wall Tape (from the Hardware store), Modeling Paste, Paint, Paint Brush, Pop sicle stick to apply modeling paste.

Be sure the modeling Paste is completely dry befor adding the paint.

I drop a dab of paint on a scrap paper...dip the brush in the paint and then wipe away most of the excess...helps with the dry brushed look.

This is so easy to do....hope you will give it a try.

Detailing Fabric Tickets from Tomoko....

I used a rub-on and some liquid pearls to detail the fabric tickets.

Here are some close ups.

First rub on the rub-on to where ever you want to place it on the fabric ticket.

*Glue a card stock behind the ticket to harden the ticket.

Cut off the sides.

Add glossy accents.
** This will also guard the rub-on from coming off.

Add some liquid pearls.

And your finished!!

How did I do that ..Jolain mistables die cuts tutorial

Another fun addition to the LE kit this month is the mistable die cuts. These are great because you can color them any color you want to coordinate with your project. You don't have to limit yourself to spray the whole die cut shape one color, here's a quick tip on adding multiple shades to one die cut...

I colored the rose die cut using Glimmer Mist in Olive Vine and Candy Apple Red.

Instead of using the spray nozzle, I used a small paint brush which I dipped directly into the bottle to color the rose petals.

I repeated the same step, this time with Olive Vine to color the leaves.

After drying, I inked the edges with a brown ink for definition. Love the deep color and glimmer I got after using Glimmer Mist as a paint!

Now here's the die cut on my page...

Hope you give this a try! Can't wait to see how you all alter your Mistable die cuts!

How did I do that...Picket fence by Jolaine

As soon as I saw the Main Kit, I knew I wanted to incorporate a picket fence. The leaf vine just called for it! Here is the layout I created using two picket fences I made out of lightweight chipboard...

The following is a tutorial on how to make your own picket fence.

Supplies:

-lightweight chipboard (or a cereal box)
-white crackle paint
-white acrylic paint
-liquid adhesive
-tools: scissors, paint brush, paper trimmer, cutting mat

1. Use your trimmer to cut six strips of chipboard measuring 2.5"x.5". Also cut two additional strips that measure 5"x.25".

2. Use your scissors to make a point on one end of one strip of chipboard. Now, use the first cut strip as a guide to cut the remaining strips of chipboard.

4. Use the ruler guide on your cutting mat to evenly space your strips of chipboard.

5. Apply liquid glue on the two longer chipboard strips.

6. Carefully lay them over your fence and attach everything together. Remove excess chipboard by cutting with your scissors at a straight angle.

7. For a white on white look, apply a thin layer of acrylic paint and let dry.

8. Next, apply a coat of white crackle paint and let air dry. Remember the thicker the coat, the bigger the crackles you will see once the paint dries.

All done! You may wish to seal your fence with a coat of Mod Podge to prevent any flaking. You can also ink it to add more of a vintage look. Since the paper collection included in the kit was so light and sweet, I left mine as is.

Fall Flower tutorial....made from leaves by Carla

I thought I'd share a quick way to make cool looking autumn flower using leaves on your projects.
Here is my layout I have made a flower using only leaves.. my example is very simple and easy. Give this a try for a fun fall look on your pages!!
Here is my tutorial:

STEP 1 what I have doné here ...Please punch about 25 leaves, set aside...this in different colors cardstock ..then punch a circle size 1,1/2

STEP 2 Put glue on the circle and place the leaves around the circle in different colors and do this the same way on the next layer * see picture *

STEP 3 and finally I had some beads stuck in the middle

Do you sometimes feel your page needs a little more dept or dimension? That your page looks flat?
Well, the easiest way to add that dimension is to lift some items on your page using 3d foam.

On this page I lifted a photo, journaling spot and the banner.....So easy and as you can see it gives a great effect!

A Framed Screen with Modeling Paste Tech....

Hello, Delaina here with you today....I wanted to share a little technique I tried out with modeling paste and screen...Hope you like it!!

I made this flowery frame with a piece of window screen from the hardware store and a little modeling paste and paint...Hope you will give it a try.

Supplies needed....

Small wooden frame- (painted gold here)
Window Screen (from the hardware store or Wal Mart)
Paint (I used a Gold color)
Modeling Paste and Spatula
Stencil (butterfly shape used here)
Flowers (Sept Flower Kit used here)

To make the Butterfly Image you will need the following...

Add a thick layer of the modeling paste to the screen over the top of the stencil (be sure to apply on a waterproof and clean surface)...

Remove the stencil by pulling straight up from the screen...

Remove from surface and hang until completely dry...

After the image is dry I covered the entire screen surface with gold paint...Just painting a few areas of the stenciled butterfly.
Allow to dry
Staple or glue the screen to the back of the frame and add flowers and ribbon.

Then you hold the lid approx 6 inches above your paper and pour it slowly to let it drop onto your page.

How did I do that ... Coffee stain for your canvas

I am slowly building up my collection of mists but I didn't have the right colour to use on my Prima canvas so I decided to improvise! I often use strong black coffee to age lace or ribbon so I thought it might work well on the canvas, here is what I did...

You will need..
Some cups of black coffee made to different strengths, I ended up using 4 different strenghts to create my background.
An old clean cloth.
An old spray bottle, I have simply thoroughly cleaned out an empty bathroom cleaner spray.

Transfer the weakest coffee into the spray bottle and apply your first layer of coffee, I used the cloth to take off the excess coffee and also softened off the edges.

Dry the canvas between each layer of coffee, you could use a heat gun but as I was working in the kitchen without my heat mat I went with the hair dryer, it worked really well and was very quick.

Keep adding layers of coffee in increasing strengths still using the spray bottle.

To add the smaller areas of more intense colour I used a paint brush to apply the coffee.

This was great fun to do and the finished canvas smells gorgeous!

On this layout I 'matted' my photo by sticking it down on the edges of the
same photo. I'll show you how I did this:

I printed the same photo twice and cut one of the two photos in two halves:

I stuck both halves down on my layout while keeping some space left
in between them:

I then attached some fussy cut flowers on the right half, to get some extra
interest as soon as the photo is attached upon it:

And in the end I stuck the whole photo down onto the two halves. This
will give you a nice dimensional look:

Hilde has created this Beautiful Mini Album using the Prima Canvas
that is included in the
September My Creative Scrapbook Limited Edition kit. We love the results!
Hilde has shared how she created this Beautiful album.

This is a really cute way of making a mini album out of the canvas sheet.

Just fold the sheet in 4 and then cut the sheet into 4 pieces.
You spray Glimmermist on the pieces and let dry.

With a crop a dile you create 2 holes into the canvas. You can use rings to
put through the holes, but I choose to use the beautiful ribbon from the kit.

I also added some kit paper and added glimmermist onto that as well.

This is a great way to create a nice mini album. To view the complete

Arranging Embellishments

**Adding color to your flower**
Supplies: Acrylic Paint (White used), sponge

Apply paint by tapping the flower lightly with a sponge.

**Adding lace to flower**
Supplies: Lace, Pearls, Glue Gun

Tear off a layer on top of the flower and glue lace on the middle part.
**The top layer can be used as another flower

Apply some pearls in the center.

**Arranging the ribbon**
Supplies: Ribbon, Rhinestone

I made two ribbons with different size, and glued them together. Applied a rhinestone in the middle.

Hi Everyone, Piradee here from Bangkok, Thailand although I'm currently working and living in Singapore with my dearest hubby. It was when I relocated to Singapore in mid-2008 for work that I discovered and fell in loving with this hobby. For me scrapbooking not only allows me to explore and challenge my creativity but also helps me de-stress after a long day at work. And the best part of it all, are the strolls through my LSS (I think I'm more of a hoarder than a scrapper) - that allows me to be a kid again (in a big candy/well scrapbooking store).

How To Make An Easy Notebook Edge Border

All you need to create your own notebook edge on a piece of cardstock or pattern paper is a hole/square punch and scissors.

1. First you use the punch to create the holes all the way down one side of the paper. You can measure these holes if you'd like,
but I usually just freely punch my holes and space them out by eye.

2. Secondly, you use the scissors to snip thin strips out from the edge of the paper to the punced hole.

You could also bend and fold the edges of your notebook edge to create a more realistic look of the paper being torn from a notebook.

Hi There! Jill here to share a tutorial with you today, I hope you enjoy.

I often get asked how I create my scalloped edge circles. Many people inquire if I use a die cutting machine but I actually just mat my patterned paper circles on a piece of cardstock and cut around it with my scalloped edge circles. It's super easy and I love how it makes my circles look a little more fancy. I decided to share a super easy tutorial on how to create these circles, and also how to turn them into a fun gift tag to attach to a birthday gift.

Supplies needed for this technique:
Patterned paper circle
Cardstock
Scalloped edge decorative scissors

Start by cutting a circle out of a piece of patterned paper.

Mat on a piece of cardstock and then it's time to get out your scalloped edge decorative scissors! I bought my fiskars ones at my local scrapbook store for just a few dollars. They were a GREAT investment!

Cut around your circle with your scalloped scissors.

Simply decorate your circle any way that you want in order to create a gift tag. I added a die cut, two fussy cut clouds, a small chipboard banner and some letter stickers. Quick and easy!

Use a hole punch to punch a hole into the top of the circle.

String a piece of ribbon through the hole and fasten with a bow.

Now just tie the gift tag to your present and your birthday girl shall enjoy!

I wanted to add some extra dimension to this page, that was made with the Main Kit and the lace was the perfect thing to add...I only found it a bit too 'flat' for my layout, so I decided to pleat it. This was really easy to do, it just took me quite some time.

This is the final result:

And this is how I did it:

1) I simply pleated the lace with my fingernail and then stitched through it with a white thread.

2) Then this was the effect I achieved (each pleat measures approximately 1/4 inch):

3) To cover up the upper edges of the lace, I cut a small strip of the blue flower paper and stuck it on the upside of the lace with tacky glue.

4) Because I wasn't completely satisfied after adding the strip (you could clearly notice the edges of the blue strip), I decided to add some brown floss, which is included in the kit too, to the strip. I attached it with a few small pieces of brown thread. On the end of the strip I tied a bow through the holes of a small button as a finishing touch.

5) And lastly I decorated the edges of the lace with a bit of stickles (I used 'Crystal', which will add a beautiful, soft shimmer to all your creations).

6) The final result looked like this:

..I have a technique to share with you and I hope you like It .
Couple layout's back have I made this layout ...maybe you remember this layout.
And now I am happy to show you ..how i did this!!

What You need to made this flower!!
* Card stock { The color that you like}
* Sanding Block
* Ink block {what I have Just Brilliance pink}
* Sponge
* Color gel pen {the color that You like}
* Flower punch
* Spike { Or the back side of the brush}
* Soft foam
* Glue

This is how to get started started

STEP 1
For two flowers you need to punched out (4) flower shapes , then you will sand the flowers , next with the spike bend the flower leaves..you will make all the flowers the same!!

STEP 2
Then make veins on the flower with color gel pen

STEP 3 Then ink In the middle of the flower ..for depth and nice effect.

STEP 4
You then put the flower together the pink one and the green one and secure with glue.
And then press with a object on the soft foam ...the flower facing down SEE PICTURE!!

STEP 5
Then add seed pod's or a brad in the middle of the flower

August Challenge - using packaging on your layouts

One thing that I really love to do is use scrapbook packaging on my layouts. It makes me feel good to find beauty and re-use something that is normally thrown away. I use packaging from ribbon, embellishments, flowers and even paper (the front cardboard on paper pads) on my layouts. It doesn't bother me that there are company logos, names, descriptions or bar codes. In fact, I think that adds a certain charm to a project. So many companies are now making pretty packaging and encouraging people to go green and re-use the packaging. Prima and K&Company, for example, have been doing this for some time. Some other companies that I like to use packaging from are Pink Paislee, BoBunny and Basic Grey.

This challenge starts right now and will end on September 14 at midnight. Please post your entry both in the contest gallery and in on the message board thread, so it can be easily found back for the Design Team when they send in their votes.

Your entry has to be new as of today to be entered in the challenge. The winner will be announced just a couple of days after the challenge has come to an end.

How To Create A Masked Border For Your Scrapbook Pages

1. I cut a sheet of pattern paper from the Limited Edition Kit to 10"x10" and placed it in the center of my background paper.
Then, I used my green ink pad to ink around all four edges of the 10"x10" paper.

2. This is the masked border/frame that I was left with. I cut out the center of this background paper in order to save the pattern
for other projects since that part of the paper was going to be covered up anyway.

3. Then, I took the same paper that I just used to ink over and cut it about 1/4" smaller on each edge, distressed and inked the
edges, then adhered it to the center of the background.

I also added some doodling to make the masking stand out just a little bit more.

How did I do that ..Jolaine glitter roses

I don't know about you but I love the frosted roses included in the LE kit this month. I wanted to recreate the look to add more sparkle and dimension to the other roses. This is what I did:

Supplies:

-Nonstick mat
-Flowers to be altered
-Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Shimmer
-Diamond Dust (found in the floral section of your local craft store)
-Ink
-Glossy Accents
-Heat gun

1. Ink the edges of the flower very lightly. Leave stems on for easier handling.

2. Spray your flower with Vanilla Shimmer spritz. This will give your flower a wonderful, colorless shimmer and will cause the edges to 'bleed' adding a more natural two-tone effect. Dry your flower with a heat gun.

3. Apply Glossy Accents in random spots.

4. Roll your flower on the Diamond Dust and let air dry. This may take 20 - 40 minutes depending on how much Glossy Accents you applied. Try and be patient now, if you use the heat tool the crystals can burn and become opaque.

5. This is what the finished roses look like. Love it! Hope you guys try it!

A Beautiful Card Tutorial from Romy...

People often ask me how I do all the layering on my layouts and cards, so I thought I'd give you a peek behind the scenes in my scrap/bedroom and show you all the steps of creating the card as shown above.

I always start with picking a few coordinating papers and lie them in front of me on my desk. I look at them endlessly until I found two or three papers that would go together perfectly as a background for my card.

When I have decided which two or three papers I want to use as mats on my card, I start cutting them in the perfect size (my card measures 4x6 inch, so the size of the purple rectangle is about 3,7x5,7 inch. Because you will only see a very small edge of the purple paper, I cut out the inner part, so I can use it to punch out a few butterflies. I used sanding paper to distress the edges of the paper.

I then added the pink layer on top of it.

After creating the base for my card, I start searching for flowers, stickers and other items that would be perfect for embellishing my card. I simply search through my stash for items that have the same colours or the same feel to it as the papers have.

I always have way too much stuff laying around on my desk to put on one card, but I just love it to try a few things and move them around until I'm satisfied. I thought this cluster of birds and the three paper layers behind it looked pretty nice, so I decided to start off creating.

Instead of starting off with the layers behind my embellishments, I worked from top layer to bottom layer on this card by first putting together the embellishment cluster around the sentiment. I fussy cut a few flowers from a sheet of paper and attached them to a Tattered Angels frame.

To give both the frame and the flowers a shimmery feel, I lightly sprayed on them with perfect pearl mist.

After that I attached the two Prima birds and the sentiment sticker to the frame. Because the sentiment 'loyal' didn't really fit the occasion I wanted to use this card for, I used alphabet stickers to create my own text and added these to the sticker.

Next I started creating a bow to put next to the frame. I simply made two bows for a more elegant and rich look.

Then I started adding the paper layers and tags to my card. As you can see I decided, during the process of creating, that I preferred the yellowish brown paper instead of the blue paper that I started with. That's the reason I never stick everything down immediately: in that way I am still able to change things up. I also added a small piece of the ribbon that I made the bow with to my card. To make sure its edges wouldn't ruffle, I added a bit of tacky glue to the ends of the ribbon. This will dry clearly and quickly, so you won't see I used glue when the card is all finished.

I attached the bow to my card and then started further embellishing my card with a couple of the many embellishments I have laying around on my desk. I choose to use a resin heart, pearls, rhinestones and two punched butterflies.

To further decorate my card I used some of my favourite mixed media: glossy accents, liquid pearls, stickles and crackle accents.

This is what the card looked like after I decorated it. I randomly added a few dots of pink liquid pearls and decorated it with glitter and gloss.

Before calling my card 'all finished' I took another close look at it and noticed 'something was missing'. After pondering a while, I found out what I needed and added a small piece of purple paper behind the right bird, so it would stand out a bit more.

And this is what the card looked like when it's all finished.

Here I cut Flowers from the pattern paper and I wanted to give it Life so I used Different Colors of Thread to make a Straight stitch on each Flower. I Just used a foam under my Flower and popped holes along the colored Imaged as Shown and then stitched it.

Banners are HUGE right now, so I thought a background banner would be super cool on my "Perfection" Layout

First just grab a couple of scrap strips of Paper, mine are 4 inches wide & 3 inches wide.

I creased the centre of each end to try and get a feel for how long I wanted the tails, I'm very hands on! lol

Then for the 4 inch banner I made a dot 2 inches in on each side. and for the 3 inch piece I made a mark 1 1/2 inches in whatever the width is I found just dividing it by 2 seemed a pretty easy rule

Next cut as straight a line as you can from the corners to where you have marked with you pen/pencil

Do this for all sides and Voila you have some large banners to use on your page.

And here is mine just to show you how you can use them.

Making your own flowers to adorn your pages and altered projects is so satisfying and there are so many different ones you can create. I have made a flower using a length of the lace from the limited edition kit.

You will need...

Start threading the embroidery thread through the holes that are along the bottom of the lace.

Keep threading until you think you have enough to form a circle.

When you are happy tie the two ends of the embroidery thread together cutting off the excess lace and thread.

I have added the gorgeous brooch from the Limited Edition kit to the centre of my flower but you could easily add a button, some bling or just simply layer up some paper circles.

How did I do that ..Alicia Creative use of pattern paper

I love to make good use of double-sided patterned paper. On this page, this beautiful floral paper has a yellow gingham backside and I had a difficult time deciding which I liked better, so I decided to mix and match them. I used my Cricut and cut out a large scalloped circle. I then slice a section of the scalloped circle off and used the larger section beside my 2 photos:

To create movement throughout the page (and to use that beautiful yellow gingham), I then took the smaller section of my scalloped circle and turned it over. I then cut the circled-parts of the scallops out and used them on the other side of my photos. It was a "creative" way of using that entire scalloped circle but I was able to show off both sides of the paper.

If you love to add some great touches to your page, you should try embroidery!
I love to embroider on my layouts. Simple border around the page, or around a photo.
On this page I created leaves and a swirl.

First I always start to draw the image with a pencil. This way you can erase it when you make a mistake.
Then I use a thick needle to create the tiny wholes.

Then with embroidery thread you just sew your own created images.

Here you can see a closeup of the leaves. Since I didn't have darker green thread at this moment my leaves didn't show as much as I would loved too.
So I added some pearl drops on the thread.

You can create so many images with embroidery thread! Flowers, swirls, little accents you name it!!

How did I do that .. Sarah Canvas letter July kit

I used a cherry red mist to tint the color of the canvas letters.
I first sprayed the mist lightly to add the color then shook the mist bottle over the canvas letters
to add a few splattered spots in order to give the letters some extra color and texture.

Tips and Technique Tuesday- vintage flowers by Jolaine

I love custom flowers but rarely have to time needed to make them. Here's a quick way to make your own flowers using stuff you probably have in your stash already. Enjoy!

You will need:

Pages from an old book (dictinary paper or pages from a newspaper will also work!)
Scalloped circle punches in three different sizes or die cutting machine
Glimmer Mist in your choice of color
Distress Ink in your choice of color
Brads or flower centers
Liquid adhesive

1. Start by cutting 2 scallop circles in three different sizes in 1/2 inch increments. I cut mine at 2", 11/2", and 1" using my Cricut machine. Because my book is very old, the pages are very delicate so I made sure the pressure was set to low on my machine. Don't worry if they rip; they don't need to be perfect!

2. Moisten your circles with Glimmer Mist.

3. While the scallop circles are still moist, scrunch them up to make them distressed. Use your heat tool to dry them.

4. Carefully unfold the scrunched up balls and stack the circles.

5. Secure with a brad, or add liquid adhesive and a flower center to secure the scallop circles together.

6. To add some dimension, ink the edges with Distress Ink in your favorite color.

7. Voila! Customized flowers for your project!
